The story of the build
Four months of guniting: the structural shell of a 180 m lazy river and the waterpark’s central pools, sprayed in 2011. The finishing was by another contractor.
Curtis Pools started at the Wild Coast Sun in March 2011 and spent about four months guniting. The lazy river is around 180 m long, 4 m wide and 1.4 m deep on average, and Curtis Pools built its structural shell, along with the pools at the centre of the park.
The finishing of the park was done by another contractor, which is why the photographs here are of the gunite going on rather than of the finished ride.
